During my journey through, A Dozen Ways to Two-Step Program, I found chatting and instant messaging to be exciting and one of my favorite steps. After completing that method I found myself chatting more often online. I also, enjoyed posting and sharing pictures online. After learning how to share pictures I plan to share more often. This program has helped me to be more comfortable with emerging technologies.I found all the methods used in this program useful and educational. If another program like this was offered, I would like to participate in it again.

Pod casts can have many uses in libraries, such as

- Library Tours
- Information Literacy and Research Help
- Library updates and library news
- Library events
- Student training
Getting the word out to students, staff, patrons, and other users would be a beneficial way of using pod casts as an educational tool to further advance their educational goals. Pod casts is another tool that will help our students to find more ways the library can become more useful in their studies.If the library posts pod casts on their website it would allow the professors to have access to these resources that would be beneficial to use their classrooms.

Wiki's are online content repositories that allow others to contribute and modify entries.
Wikis can be an environment that allows anyone to add, edit, or delete pages. Some Wikis require registered membership, and others are private, but many allow anyone with access to the Web to contribute
Many free or inexpensive Wiki engines and Wiki farms are available.
Wikis support communication and knowledge sharing which is essential to libraries.
Wikis provide a great "starting place" or overview of a topic, but are categorized as a "general encyclopedia," which should not be cited when conducting serious research

Method #9

I found chatting online was extremely easy and surprisingly fun. Our library does not offer online chatting services and I do not think that they will provide these services in the future. I do not think that online chatting between employees are necessary because we have phone extensions and email. Online chatting amongst employees and students can be impersonal, it is hard to understand the tone behind the conversation and sometimes it is difficult to understand the urgency of the conversation.

Social networking sites such as facebook are exciting sites to visit. These networks help the student body and staff form relationships outside of an educational setting.Concerning privacy I use alot of discretion when posting on a social networking site.Our university library does have a facebook page in order to communicate and share pictures with students,faculty, and staff of the activities and progress the library is doing.

Users can bookmark web pages for themselves and others, check out what others have bookmarked, and organize bookmarks . The social part for users would be that it is handy for those looking to discover a site by accident because someone else has saved it. The more people that have bookmarked something, the higher it will rise in search results. Since presumably people bookmark sites they find important, heavily bookmarked resources are usually the best of the web. Tagging and social bookmarking tools—whether to improve accessibility of library materials, to introduce patrons to new tools, or to make creating subject guides easier for staff—empower users and staffers in new ways.

The advantages of YouTube are viewing how things are made and how they work for educational purposes. I chose this video thinking it would be a video training on how to shelve books. Instead we viewed a large waste of money, time, space, and no human interaction for shelving books at a large library. Library videos can be useful for library tours, information on library policies, training, and public relations.

Online photo sharing is a fun and creative way to share memories with family and friends. I would personally enjoy sharing my online photos with family during my spare time.
If permisson was granted by all involved, I think that online photo sharing for libraries would be beneficial for events, promotions and educational news.

Google Reader was extremely easy for me to set up. I enjoyed this exercise and plan on using Google Reader from now on.

Method #3 Cloud Computing

I toured Google docs and learned that documents can be accessed from school, home, phone. This would be great for Churchs, clubs, organizations and anyone who is wanting to create a document.
I am concerned about future privacy issues though.

Zoho, has a set of office tools with 13 online tools available. If you are out of the country or on a road trip this would be a wonderful way to bring your work with you, as no storage devices are needed. Both Google docs and Zoho are free of charge, so all you need is an internet connection.

After reading the remaining recommended articles, my first thoughts again were the privacy issues. As one person commented, What happens when the 3rd party abuses your privacy. What if they go out of business/get sold to another company. Giving to much control over our information can be dangerous.

Method #2

In the first video Stephen Abram answers several questions regarding changes libraries are making . I will be reflecting on the exciting new dynamics and positive changes that are occuring in today's libraries.
The second video is amazing. It makes you think about the impact the internet has on us as a society. Web 2.0 focuses on people who consume media and use the internet. We do not need to passively absorb what is available, we can become active contributors by customizing media and technology for our own purposes and those around us.
