Beyond Method #5

Yes - I think Goodreads and LibraryThing could be effective readers advisory tools.

I checked out all 3 sites and really like the Goodreads site the best. I like that I can keep track of what I read, and that I can get infomation about books I didn't know about on it. I really enjoyed the discussion groups the best.

In my opinion, Library staff might use it to find out about books they wouldn't normally have been exposed to. This could make their reading habits more eclectic and give them more information for recommended reading to customers.

Beyond Method #4

I searched Texasjobs.com, Simply Hired and hound.com. Simply Hired was the most user friendly for me to use, Texasjobs.com homepage was to detailed. If I were not computer literate I would need help with these sites.
I looked at the Goodwill Community Foundation’s Computer Basics page. I think this would be helpful for patrons in learning to use the computers.
We are an academic library, so most users are not job seekers. If asked though we would be able to give them directional help and supply them with information and resouces available at our library.

Beyond Method 3

Google Maps and creating a mashup was very easy to do. The added feature of a map would help new students and parents in finding our library. Visitors would quickly be able to get walking or driving directions to our campus library.
Yes I see myself using this feature in the future.

Beyond Method #2

I think Netvibes homepage looks to be the best option for librarians. A customized home page, with a clean layout and subdued colors would provide a different way to experience our library on the web.
The homepage could include our welcome message, programs, announcements, blogs, uploads, news, and current weather conditions.

Advanced Dance Method

In the Discovery Exercise, I changed the font, color and image of my old template using the Template Designer. I looked at the Page Elements and Gadgets. I added more information to my profile. I changed my profile photo and then registered my blog.

Method #12

During my journey through, A Dozen Ways to Two-Step Program, I found chatting and instant messaging to be exciting and one of my favorite steps. After completing that method I found myself chatting more often online. I also, enjoyed posting and sharing pictures online. After learning how to share pictures I plan to share more often. This program has helped me to be more comfortable with emerging technologies.I found all the methods used in this program useful and educational. If another program like this was offered, I would like to participate in it again.

Method #11

Pod casts can have many uses in libraries, such as

- Library Tours
- Information Literacy and Research Help
- Library updates and library news
- Library events
- Student training
Getting the word out to students, staff, patrons, and other users would be a beneficial way of using pod casts as an educational tool to further advance their educational goals. Pod casts is another tool that will help our students to find more ways the library can become more useful in their studies. If the library posts pod casts on their website it would allow the professors to have access to these resources that would be beneficial to use their classrooms.
